AMMA FUSION massage uses an exciting blend of the most effective Eastern Massage techniques and draws from disciplines, such as table shiatsu and tuina.
Amma is based on concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine and, in turn, TCM is based firmly in philosophy and ones relationship to the universe. Amma focuses on the movement of 'chi' or 'qi' (energy); strokes take energy from the centre of the body out to the extremities. This, in combination with pressure on certain acupressure points, unblocks stagnant qi and increases health and vitality.
Amma uses firm gentle pressure of hands, and can be used to treat conditions such as migraines, neck and back pain, sinus problems, digestive complaints, chronic fatigue and it can also be used in preventative care. Systemic conditions may also be eased with this subtle and powerful technique.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR) Techniques:
The fascia of the body is the tough connective tissue that holds us together. Fascia has been described as a 3 dimensional body stocking that envelops each and every structure of the body; the tiniest nerve has its own fascial sheath, or envelope, as does the largest bone.

MFR techniques aim to restore mobility in the fascia and soften connective tissue that has become rigid. A healthy fascial system is seen as integral to good health.
MFR techniques can be used to treat acute and chronic pain, pelvic and menstrual problems, headaches and sports injuries.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY:
A trigger point is a point of tenderness felt in muscles even if the client is not complaining of pain. These points of tenderness may be palpated easily as tense bands of tissue in muscles and tendons and can be relieved by a variety of methods including pressure, and stretching. The knot type texture of a trigger point is where the sliding filaments of the muscle become stuck and won't release. Blood supply is reduced to the area and irritating chemicals in the area are not removed. Correct treatment brings blood to the area and flushes toxins away.
Janet Travell was the doctor who pioneered trigger point work in the USA and published her first work on the subject in 1952. Dr Travell is famous for relieving the pain of John F Kennedy who was injured in World War II. Travell along with David Simons wrote the definitive work on trigger point therapy in 2 volumes.
